Field Day!

Thank you Mrs. Belville!  We had a blast at this year's field day!  Now off to a relaxing and safe spring break.  See everyone in a week!

Filter of Hope

Fifth graders are partnering with Filter of Hope to help provide a water filtration system to those without access to clean drinking water.  Dr. Gretchen Wilhelm demonstrated the system for us and spoke to our students about water as a natural resources and some of the man made contaminates that can pollute it.  Help support the cause by donating or purchasing our "mixture of fun" at the Cougar Carnival.

The Year of the Sheep!

This happened today as we looked at some winter holidays around the world.  Have a wonderful break!  Read a book!

Scientist Skype

Today we had the awesome opportunity to Skype with a real life oceanographer!  Dr. Sancho talked to us all the way from Spain and helped us answer some of our research questions for our ocean floor mapping project.  This makes my top ten list for best days in the classroom!  Our students did an excellent job with their questions, and we can't thank Dr. Sancho enough for taking time to speak with us!

Veteran's Day

For Veteran's Day our school is collecting supplies to send to our soldiers in Afghanistan.  Our class had some fun making this video for our school assembly.

San Diego

I got the privilege to travel to San Diego  California to observe some project based learning in action.  We visited High Tech High and all the school campuses at Chula Vista as well as had some sessions from professionals there sharing their craft.  There were lots of wonderful take-aways for the classroom and a little fun checking out the town as well.  Can't wait to get back and put some of my learning into action!
